Been hanging out at my local GC waiting for my guitar to be set up, which is just awesome now, and the have a 40 hanging on the wall. I got a chance to play it for a while and WOW. What a sound and sustain for ever  Now I want one. It's from 1974 and has A LOT of mojo . Looks like it was used as a back drop for baseball practice
Now the ugly part, they want 1600.00 for it, crazy, crazy, crazy. No saddle left, neck is bowed up a little, tuners were bad, needed new frets, and man was it dirty. I mean my hands were sticking to the fret board  The sound and playability was unbelievable. I a/b'd it against many martins and no contest ( to my ears, ymmv ). I was in there with some other players and they were commenting that they didn't know anything about Guilds and completely overlooked it, oh well, someone might get very used and slightly abused good D40, that is after a neck reset, new saddle, frets and a wash.
I still want one though
