Did Guild ever build a twelve string in ash? If so what years and what models. The GAS Sirens are calling to me, and unlike Ulysses I’m unable to resist their charms!

Hummm…no bites? None? Is ash such a rare wood to use? I may have to set my sights on maple. :?

Hey Dane...
I think the D-46 was the only (Guild) ash acoustic. I'd bet it would have make a great sounding 12er... From my D-46's tone, I'd say that ash falls between maple and rosewood. Great bass *AND* trebles... some of the brightness of mahogany/maple and some of the richness of rosewood.

What a shame. A twelve out of ash would have been magnificent! You’re right Dave, the balance and tone is unreal. Thanks to both of you for the input. Maple or rosewood...hummm. And thus begins the quest for the perfect twelve. “Watson; the game is afoot!” :D

Dane:

Ash is pretty rare for an acoustic guitar. In the Guild line, the only guitar that I know of is the D-46 (6 strings), but no 12 strings. It is more commonly used on electric guitars (being the original wood for either Stratocasters or Telecasters (I forget which, it was later changed to Alder)). I don't remember if there are other vendors who made ash bodied acoustics, but I don't think so.
