I'm ready to take the plunge and get a Guild 12 string. As much as I would love a new F412, the GAD F212 is more in my price range. The problem is, I haven't been able to find one to audition. Does anyone have experience with this instrument?

Dr Izza Plumber said:If the GAD F212 is anything like the GAD G212, possibly the string spacing may be an issue. For some reason, Guild's China factory set the string spacing closer together than what is normal on a 12 string guitar, on their G model.
The guitar flat picks OK with the factory spacing, but finger picking is difficult for medium to large fingers. (Guild mark also noticed this issue when He handled My G212.)
A new nut can be fashioned, which helps, but then You're looking at a Luthier charge of at least $100, hence, I would find one and play it first, before a purchase, to make sure that it suits Your style.
GE, didn't try the GAD F212. Definitely enjoyed the GAD JF30-12...GELewis said:I'm ready to take the plunge and get a Guild 12 string. The GAD F212 has a slightly wider nut than the GAD G212, 3/4" vs. 11/16". Hopefully that will help.
