trade strongly preferred. here's what i'm thinking.

i have a 1972 Gibson ES-335TD cherry sunburst that's been greatly modified. another guitar that didn't survive the 70s quite intact. however, it plays extremely well and sounds sweet. to be honest, i loved this guitar, and gigged with it for years.

however, i'm looking to "trade up", ideally with someone who wants or needs to part with an unaltered vintage (i'm looking 60s) Gibson or Guild semi-hollow body in very good or better condition, but still wants a sweet-playing, sweet-sounding guitar and also a fist-full of cash, since the guitar(s) i'm looking for will almost certainly be valued higher than mine.

here's a list of known modifications:
1. the bridge has been replaced with a brass bridge, which involved some moving and drilling on the top of the guitar. (i have the original bridge in the case.)
2. although the pickups are original, a coil tap switch has been installed on one of the humbuckers, involving a small hole drilled near the treble volume knob.
3. the tuners have been replaced with Schallers. (i do not have the original tuners.)
4. the fan tail has been replaced with a fine-tuning tail piece. this is really convenient for quick and accurate tuning, especially when gigging, but the downside is this is perhaps the most significant visual scar, as it involved a major drill job on the top of the guitar, and it's not technically in the right place. (whoever did the alterations placed it back where the fan tail would have rested, rather than up closer to the bridge where fixed tail pieces are placed.)

regardless, i just paid to have the guitar professionally set up at Willie's American Guitars, so despite all the modifications, the guitar is certifiably playable for anything from garage jamming to gigging out.

i have no photos readily available, but if there's any interest in this, i'd be happy to post them, or send them.

let me know if you or a friend has a 60s Gibson or Guild in very good or better condition, and is looking to trade down *and* get some cash.
