Gotta be difficult on you good folks up there, Bill.

Cordoba's acquisition is very meaningful in terms of long range stability when we consider all the workers Fender displaced/left behind in Westerly, Corona, Tacoma, and New Hartford. We owe all those good folks a debt of gratitude for keeping the Guild machine rolling.

So far we've only seen good things from CMG Ken, along with a lot of enthusiasm and engagement. I have great hopes that they will be far better stewards of the brand than FMIC. As we would say on the racetrack, in light of FMIC's past performances, they don't have much to beat.

But so were many Fender products.

Very true Brad. I'd guess that CMG isn't going to have production levels to feed a chain the size of GC for quite some time if at all. That might change if GC closes a bunch of stores the next time their debt comes due, which is pretty likely really.

But perhaps the major difference is that Fender products directly competed with Guild electrics, whereas Cordoba makes primarily nylon string guitars, only a few acoustic steel string guitars, and no electric guitars. This to me has been my main argument from day one in support of CMG's purchase of Guild, that the two companies truly complement each other, which FMIC and Guild never did.

I would love to "reroute" a couple of those pallets of wood.

When do we get to see Part 2?

All depends on how much presence they want. GC has 315 stores, according to Wiki, so one D-55 and one F-412 or 512 in every store would establish a beachhead in the "inner sanctum" of high end acoustics with only 630 units. I'm assuming that the Newark Street production in Korea will be ongoing, so they can probably produce a fair number of Starfires, for example, to get the brand visible. Of course, what effect this would have on supplying the non-GC dealers is a question, here, along with how soon they could be up and running with, let's say 500 units a month. if that's doable with the facility they are assembling. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
