Hello folks,

Received an e-mail from Angela Mortero, who used to work at Guild in the little front office:

Angela wrote: I worked at this facility for less than two years but remained there to the very end. I have a bluesbird from the plant prior to its closing and wanted to share a picture of it with you, if possible, to post (for fun). This job was my first "real world" job out of college (I worked in the little office up front) and I had a great, short-lived time there.

Interestingly Angela made a upgrade of the stock Guild knobs witha set of 1980's style. I put a pair of those on a "gold top" and thought it was a decent upgrade.

Hi Angela,

Very cool to have been a part of such a rich tradition of great guitars! Nice Bluesbird!

Hello cuthbert,

Well you're not supposed to ask a lady her age but she told me 'I was the ripe ol' age of 20 when I started working there' and she worked there for more than a year before the Westerly plant closed, so you can do the math yourself!

EZ Jerry, you'll scare her away with a font that size!

Down Jerry....down boy. Gosh Jer, when you get a load of Texas women, you may not make the round trip home. We may have to secure you in your room, only to be let out for picking sessions.

I know that, but my comment was, as a matter of fact, a compliment...and yes, she should join this board, I think that many members have questions about Westerly, how it was working there, the atmosphere etc...
