Hmmm. I wonder about the statement, "It's going to last forever". It's paper! What happens if it gets wet? Did they coat it with anything to protect it? Tension on the neck over time. Can you do a neck reset on a paper guitar?

Yes, it sounded great, but I think I'll stick with wood, thank you.

The very first job I had was working in a corrugated box factory fresh out of high school. Four years of doing everything from pulp to finished product. You would be amazed at the strength (and weight) that can be produced. All the technology seen there was available in 1972 when I started.

TX, not to sound like a 'cardboard nerd' but that is corrugated, not honey comb. I'm pretty sure they epoxied over it to keep the sides from folding.

Still very cool.

I just thought it was cool that it was see through and Honeycomb was the first thing that popped into my mind. Sorry if it was not the correct terminology in the world of Cardboard. On a lighter note, I'm still going to call it honeycomb. LOL :single_eye:

They also make surfboards out of cardboard -- I don't think you have to worry about water!

For folks with bad backs, bad shoulders, etc., it could be a boon. But nothing in this clip suggests they're being mass-marketed.

What did they screw the neck screws into? I would think there has to be a solid block in there somewhere. You're not going to just screw into the corrugation. Same with the bridge, pickguard and other hardware.

We called them "large appliance boxes"!

Waly.... I can't believe you were such a "half-empty-glass" kinda guy. Ever thought about the possibilities? Live the dream man! :watermelon:

Never too late mind you: Next time you buy a large appliance, I want you to post a picture of you sitting inside the box with a big grin on your face, after cutting a window on the side of the box.

On this thread please.

And yes, you can have a guitar in it too.

That would be awesome, A great big Refrigerator box with a window and a Guitar Neck hole cutout of the side. That way you could be grinning out the window with your guitar neck sticking out the side! When I was a kid we called them forts as well but we always had rubber band gun fights between them! LOL

Ya know.... I've always been VERY conservative on my house(s) transactions and projects.
Always careful about not getting into more house than I can afford.... but I like your daring, far reaching thinking.

Waly: Feel free to utilize Al's suggestions above, should the mood strike you.
I for one, like the idea of an hinged side panel, allowing you to let the guitar neck hang out while you play inside.

Unless you guys are taking up a collection, I will have to decline - I'm not buying a refrigerator just to post a photo! I guess I need the free hobo house.
