Hi guys. Hope I'm not too far off topic here, but I also have a T-1 2x10" twin that sorely needs new speakers. The ones in it now are not original. Just wondering if you would know what impedence speakers I should be buying and how to wire them (two 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel to create a 4 ohm load?...etc). Thanks a bunch!

That would be the most likely scenario. What impedance speakers are in there now, powdog?

I miss him too, John! I was in contact with him, one way or another, every day. :(

Hey guys. That schematic and thread are for the T-1 reverb, which used a 12" main speaker, and a separate 8" speaker just for the reverb signal, like the old Hammond L100's.

I'm afraid I'm at a loss here. It's been quite a while since I've posted anything on this forum. I really expected capnjuan to respond to this query, as he used to do when I would post a Guild amp subject. I get the impression that I won't be chatting with him any more. My loss. Our loss.

My amp is running two 10" no-name speakers in parallel creating a 4 ohm load. Just wanted to make sure that I shouldn't be running two 16 ohm speakers for an 8 ohm load.

Sorry for that, I am not an amps guy...maybe somebody else has an idea. And yes, capnjuan cannot answer anymore...

CapnJuan lost his battle with cancer a few months ago.

We miss him and default seems to be the person trying hardest to fill his shoes when it comes to amp questions.

Without knowing what the secondary impedance of the transformer is (there are ways, with hooking an ac supply to the tranny), it's safe with assume the double/half rule applies. You can double or half the speaker load without hurting anything. If your ot is looking for an 8 ohm load, you can run 2 speakers in parallel for a total of 4 ohms or in series for a total of 16 ohms without blowing anything up or shortening tube life.
I would run a couple of 8 ohm Webers for a load of 4 ohm, it seems to be the most typical configuration for an American tube amp of that vintage.
If you could, post the transformer codes from the output transformer and I'll see if I can dig up a manufacturer/model number.

Neither of the T-1 schematics capnjuan emailed me a while ago show the 2x10" configuration, but only show OT's with an 8 ohm secondary. I guess I'll go ahead and run a pair of 8 ohm Webers as suggested. Thank you everybody. I am saddened to hear the bad news, but also glad to see that Default has picked up the torch. Carry on!

Sounds good, although I've been waiting a month for my Webers and still no word. :-/

I'd still like the numbers from the OT, if you can read them.

OT 007002

Looks like both are Schumacher from 1966. It's a great amp, full of mustard caps. Hope this works for you.
