I had a D-240, not the DS-240. I don't know if the difference is just cosmetic or if there is more. It was a pretty good guitar but I traded it on my D-20. There was nothing wrong with it really, I just didn't need another guitar laying around. It is a dread though, it is a little big for a travel guitar unless you are adverse to smaller guitars for that purpose. If that is the case, or if you are just looking for a reason, and if it is anything like the D-240 then it would certainly fill the bill.

Anybody played one? Hey, for $450 I might have to buy one just to have one I don't worry about at all. Looks great, but how do they sound?

Hey West! It's been a while!
I know i'm late to the responses here, but I wanted to drop my two cents on this. At the beginning of the pandemic I had a guitar shop open around the corner from me (LITERALLY around the corner) and, in the past couple years, he's become a Guild dealer and primarily stocks these chinese models. There hasn't been one that i've played that I wasn't floored by. The GAD series of guitars were never for me. They were good "for the money," but with the vintage Guilds I owned, there was never any want or need for them. But these new ones since Cordoba bought them are great guitars - PERIOD. For $450? That's a steal for that instrument.

And while we are discussing a "camping or hunting" guitar - take a look at the Jumbo Junior! Also $450, but it's a jumbo shape and is SMALL. The gig bags are optional on these things, but I bet they could be worked into the deal if you found the right dealer.

I think the little woman has put the halt on a new acquisition Mingus. It was, and still is a great thought though. She said something about my having enough guitars and that I said my last guitar was my LAST guitar, or something like that. They just don't understand.

By the way, the ranch we hunt at out west is just outside a small town called "Mingus", Tx. Great hearing from you my friend.

Just drag one of those cheap, crappy Collings along on your camping trip, West!;)
