I live just South of the floods happening all along the East coast of Australia right now - this picture from Lismore today about 1200 kilomtres from me shows the alarming height of the water there.

My goodness!!!! I hope all the low-lying areas have been evacuated, Bruce. Is Sydney in trouble?

Tens of thousands have been evacuated around Sydney - it gets even worse further North, right up into Queensland.

Well it's supposedly one of those 'one in a hundred years' events but this has broken all records here - massive weather system that slowly drifts out to sea picks up moisture and circles back to the mainland - I live on the very outer edge, so plenty of rain here but not flood level - one town up north had 1500mm in 48 hours - that's 80% of their annual rainfall in 2 days.
