Barry Melton Band in 1976. Not sure who the bassist is, but would love to know the story behind the bass. It looks like an early SFB-I with a Guildbucker in place of the original bisonic... unless of course this was an old body kickin around the warehouse in '71 or something and was sold as a new SFB-I then with the bucker straight from the factory (though that's probably unlikely)

Oh, I definitely recall seeing that one at some point on LTG. Totally forgot about it. Either way, interesting choice on whoever's part... unless the bisonic died and no replacement was available, I don't see why someone would choose to do this. But I suppose they didn't have the convenience of having Fred Hammon and his Dark Stars back then. Also, to each his/her own... I suppose

Considering there is at least one example of a '67 with Gibson humbucker replacing the bi-sonic I think we have to remember that those were different times. Certainly until 1977 or so, a Starfire was just an off the shelf bass so putting in your pickup of choice was nothing to raise eyebrows at. Even today, there are a small handful of people who prefer something else to the Bi-sonic or Dark Star regardless of which bass it is on. Not too many of them post at LTG but...
