I'm not positive about this but I think the one that goes on the little finger is actually a condominium.
...or, considering the size, a condominimum!

Calusses? Or would that be calussii ?
Lemmee see... I think we're debating whether wearing a rubber thingy will prevent calusses at the expense of sensitivity.
After that I think we're looking for the correct nomenclature for the little ones.
After all that, I discover my girlfriend thinks they're cute.
Not sure I like where that may wind up.

Of course I'm sure they carry a disclaimer something to this effect:

"No finger condoms can prevent calluses 100% of the time due to slippage, breakage, and operator error. The only sure method of preventing fingertip calluses is abstaining from playing stringed instruments altogether."

I like to use finger condoms on the end of my muzzleloader when it's raining.
I'll pass on the intended use for them though.

In fact I was once told by someone I trusted that more condoms meet the end of their useful life on the end of a barrel than from any other single cause.

Frono, that's a quote from Leon Uris' book "Battle Cry."

Could be. I first heard it from a fellow adolescent who did not tell me his source but was highly impressed by the implied reference to certain organs and activities. I have since heard it many times, most often from folks with active duty military experience, whenever certain firearms were referred to as "guns" in their presence. I kind of figured that people who went through Basic Training had it drilled into them.

That's how I got it too. Same type of source mentioned the use of condoms to keep rifle barrels clear in inclement conditions, very common, and no need to remove 'em in an emergency.
Believe it or not, I even saw a mil spec for condoms once. For real.
In fact:
