this topic is inspired by Joe, and also a desire to taunt Joe just a little. ;)
oh, and maybe Tony. never hurts to taunt Tony a little as well. :D

what's your favorite place to play: living room, office, screen porch...?
and do you have a favorite pickin' (or strummin' or playin') chair?

i have two. my main throne is my wooden-backed, armless playin' chair.
here it is, featuring my 1987 Guild GF-25NT that i was briefly considering selling:

i've also found that my desk chair, which reclines and is also currently armless, works nicely.

so... where do you play?

Thanks for providing an image of my favorite pickin' chair, and thanks for the additional holiday taunting.

For the best acoustics here and unless I carry my favorite padded stool from the den, my favorite spot has an oval seat and a lid on it. And the shower curtain is flexible. I'll see if I can get a pic!!

Rich,

All chair(fulness) aside, I'm still searching for one of those lovely
GF-25NTs and when I find one, I'll sit and pick....anywhere! Heck, I'll even stand and pick!

Take care and thanks for the reminder,
Joe

I use a barstool with a few inches chopped off the legs. If I sit in a low chair, I play poorly and my shoulder hurts.

I play a lot standing ('cause that's how I play in the church band) in my bedroom
but also on the couch in the living room.

I used to play sitting on the edge of the bed a fair amount, but we just got a new mattress and box spring set, and now the edge is too high.

I had briefly considered buying a Soundseat ... but just too much cash.
So I recently bought one of these from Office Max.

Great price and very, very comfortable.

When practising at home, I play in the kitchen - usually standing up.
funny... i actually do that about half the time.

our kitchen is fairly isolated, and something about the acoustics of a smaller room, with all the cabinets, etc... everything sounds kind of nice in the kitchen. plus, the counter is the perfect height for leaning my back against as i play.

also, i can strum and sing without bothering my wife too much. she usually works on a laptop in the living room, and while she loves to hear me play and sing, sometimes the words get in the way of her writing (papers, reports, etc...)

I would think that standing on the couch could be tricky!

That's my chair, and I got mine at OMax as well!! Mine is fabric covered, however, and one of two that I have in my office. The armless one is for picking while the other is armed (but not dangerous) and sits at my desk, for writing and....the occasional, unexpected nap!

Nice taste in chairs CJ,
Joe

I actually like those Rubbermaid stepstools, 'cause I like classical position and I can put my foot up on the first step. For me it's just more comfortable than trying to use a chair and a footstool. My living room has great acoustics.

Joe,

In the particular case, a picture is not required. (Too much info?)

really, that's the same reason I play standing up.

Actually, the bass guitar player in our band sits on a stool to play.
No strap on the guitar.
He's the first bass guitar player I've ever seen who sits to play.

He also plays upright acoustic bass, so I don't know if that influencd him in any way, but he stands to play that.

Gotta be different. I usually sit on the bottom steps of our stairs so I can play out toward the living room. If I'm playing electric the amp sits right next to me on the inside curve of the stairs.
