Reading the post about the new Guilds with the white "G" made me think of all the other logos Guild has used. I think my favorite all-time is the "skyline" logo. I wish they would re-use it. It harkens back to the beginnings in NYC. It's kinda hard to believe they used to hand-craft guitars there.

I'm not familiar with the skyline logo Bob, what else is that one referred to as? Is it the one with the diamond under the name?

Would be cool too if they reissued the original headstock shape, just on a few models.

I agree that G on the headstock is classy. I think they should use the G for all guilds.Just like Taylor has one logo for all their guitars. 8)

I really want to grab a G shield as well, although I think each guitar looks good with what they have. My 25s have just the Guild name, the 52 has a great chesterfield in abalone.

Just about anything that evokes Guild has that happy factor.

The simple (skyline ?) logo on my budget F4 looks just perfect on that guitar, and I love the gold MOP chesterfield logo on my SF4.

I really like the old Chesterfield (with 3 engraved "columns") best.

My 2nd favorite is the "G" shield, but only when the rest of the guitar is draped in pearl.

Forget Taylor, I like the variety (G shields, scripts, chesterfields, etc.) - it make things more interesting. That's part of the fun with Martins and Gibsons well - and it's part of the reason Taylor is no fun.

Logo

I have often wondered how low I can go...I suppose buying 4 Estaban guitars would be pretty low.

I like the new logo on my CV-1

"Skyline" logo

The "skyline" logo from the '50's is similar to the cheaper Guild gold logo with block letters as found on a Westerly D25 for instance, but it's done with inlay and the letters seem to form a city skyline. I've never seen one in real life, only a picture. I hope somebody can post a pic.

You know, I really like the variety. Partial to the G shield as a favorite, but Guild generally has very attractive headstock features. Always classy and well-executed.

You know, something about that old "crown" chesterfield with the three separate engraved columns really gets to me. (see my avatar!)

It's almost like it doesn't have to try as hard as the shield to stand out and say it's primo, but looking at the detail you know that axe has had some hands-on TLC in it. My '68 F30 has this kind of headstock, and it always gets compliments - even though the rest of the guitar looks like it went through the chipper.[/list]

i'm sure i'm of the minority opinion, but i prefer the old vintage script logo that was revived on the palomas and the contemporary series (see my avatar)
