Hi Folks,

I was reviewing serial numbers for the F-512 and noted that there are no serial numbers listed for 1987-1989. It reappears in 1990. The JF-55 replaces it in 1991 until the rebirth of the current wonderful F-512s.

Does anyone know what replaced the F-512 from 1987-1989?

Best to all,
Mick

Mick, that's interesting. I hadn't realized that, but I'm not sure it's true. Hans Moust has told us that the list on the Guild site can't be trusted. The gaps are more likely errors or omissions than an indication of no production. But, surely it's possible that there were missing years in the F512/JF55 production.

Best wishes.

Hello Mick,

The 'official' Guild serial number list is pretty bad around that period with lots of mistakes in the 'high-end' 12-strings sections. However the list is correct in that there was no F-512 production between 1987 and 1989 except for a few that were listed as JF-65R-12s during 1987, but these guitars do not necessarily have the 'JF-65R-12' model designation on the label.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
