And, by the way; am I correct in assuming that you're a fan of this Magic Slim ?

You're right coastie99. The first time I've seen this guy he was drinking whisky one after the other in a Paris Jazz Club. I think, what's his homeless guy doing here?

After 10 minutes the guy went on stage with sleepers and plays with his band. I was amazed and felt back.

I have respect for him, a very good and real Bluesman.

Slim.

Is your National vintage, or a re-issue ?

I'd love to see photo's of that too.

If you're interested in the early history of National, you might like to look for this book......................

"The History and Artistry of National Resonator Instruments" by Bob Brozman. ISBN 0-931759-70-6

I've had this for a number of years; there may be an updated edition with a different ISBN number.

Back in 2003, when I decided to learn guitar, a (guitar) dealer friend gave me a 2003 Guild catalogue. I'd already bought my first guitar, and had decided on making a once in a lifetime, no holds barred guitar purchase.

There on page 42 was a guitar I immediately fell in love with; a black custom shop F40. It remains, to me, the loveliest guitar I've ever "seen".

I made an enquiry with my dealer friend about purchasing a black, cutaway, custom shop F40, and was (eventually) told "about NZ $7000". I guess that would have been about US $3500 - $4000 then. The price didn't phase me, and the NZ agent was instructed to talk to America.
And then, nothing happened. I guess things were in a state of turmoil in Corona at the time.

I ended up buying an F47RCE Corona 2nd in Antique Burst, which had only the most miniscule of finish-checking.

Oh, how I wish I had got that C. S. F40 !!

My National is a reissue year 2000 I think. She was equiped with Waverly tuners by the last property. I will take pics to show it.

I would like to try a pedal steel. I very like the sound of this music instrument who require a good feeling.

Thanks for the book reference. I found it on Amazon. No update, two same publications year 1993 with one is a hardback.
