Hello,

A come back after a long time but not lost time. Last summer to USA to Boston (hello to Robin & Mark), Nashville, Memphis, Clarksdale (Morgan Freeman ground zero club) and Greenwood, M.S (tribute to Robert Johnson). A very nice trip and thank you to american's people to drive to USA with no stress. Not as to France. Thank you to my wife to help me to speak english.

Sorry but I'm come back with a gorgeous Taylor 955 (12 strings), flashy no?

Now I would like to buy a Jumbo Guild with rosewood back and sides.

So my visit on the forum is to have informations about a Guild F50 R or JF 100 carved or not.

Is the differences are only the finishing ?

What is the price range for each model?

All opinions are welcome.

Thanks to all

Hi Magic, beautiful Taylor yes.

In your search for an F-50R or a JF-100 I think you'll come across several dozen F-50s before you come across 1 JF-100, unless you know of a secret stash?

I would think for the most part the trim is all that's different, perhaps the top on the JF is AAAAA spruce as opposed to AAA on the F-50, could be wrong.

Price wise, seems the F-50R will run anywhere from 1300 - 1800? The JF, again if you can find one should go 3500 and up? Could be wrong on that as well.

I did see an ad for a JF-100C in Japan and the asking price was $5000 US equivalent.

Near as I can find out, there were a total of 46 JF100s made up to 1998. And thousands of F50s.

I note 4 JF100-C12s. Now wouldn't one of those be a treat to find?

Hi Graham,

So a F50-R is good for me. Guild are made to be played. I'm not a collector.

I will keep you posted about my search.

Bye! Bye!

Magicslim, Don't know if your'e still hangin' around... but have you seen this thread? JF-100 (carved heel) in winnepeg: http://www.letstalkguild.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6836 @ $3,000.

Hello GardMan,

I've sent e.mail to this guy but no answer. Anyway why make a second hole in the body to put an other pick up? If you make it don't hope sell the guitar $ 3000.

If you want used a second pick up you don't need to make a second hole. You put a tape to hold the cable it's well.

Too bad, only 100 Guild JF 100 manufacturing in year 1993.

Life is life.

Bye! bye!

Hello Magicslim, from down here in New Zealand.

I see in your signature, that you own a Custom Shop Valencia.

I'd love to see photo's of that guitar, if possible please. I'm sure a lot of others here would too.

Best of luck with the F50 / JF100 search.

Hi Magicslim; I think the larger end pin goes with factory-installed Barcus Berry Hot Dot pickups; I have a Guild that has the same over-sized endpin and factory pickups. I believe the second jack is for the second pickup leaving both pickups working. Splicing would end the usefulness of the original pickups. cj

Thanks for the information capnjuan.

One plug in the end pin ok but a second on the side of the guitar not for me. I don't like to make hole in the guitar body. Probably because I'm an acoustic guitar player above all.

When I need to play a pure acoustic plug in I use my Fishman Rare Earth single coil (cable with tape) and I play sitting down. If I need to play standing I plug my Guild D55 to move. And if I need to equalize I use my Taylor 814 ES.

Hello West,

Year 1999, but how many were built? I don't know. It's a question for Hans the Guild's bible. I was lucky to get this F40. I was in a French Guitar shop with a friend who was looking for guitar. I've seen the F40 hanging up in the corner as inacessible.

Just a tuning and three chords on it decide me to buy it. Marvellous, the perfect sound and body size for me, the guitar of my life.
