How long have you owned the F-50: As best I recall about 53 years
Year & specific model: 1967 F50-BL
Purchased new or used: Used
Price paid: $200 plus a Gibson acoustic that the bridge was lifting on
Owners rate 1 (least appreciated) to 10 (most appreciated) in following categories with comments as desired:
Build quality 10
Looks 10
Projection 9
Bass 10
Mids 8
Highs 8
Sustain 9
Playability/comfort 6
Dependability 10
Fingerstyle 8
Flatpick 9
Strum 9
Condition (Mint/Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor): Fair
Favorite Strings (one selection only): D'Addario EJ26
Would you buy another if lost/sold: Probably not
Overall Assessment: A long term love affair
Most Appreciated Characteristic: Great sound
Least Appreciated: size of lower bout
Favorite F-50 Story/Moment: When I saw a poster with Clapton playing an F50 in the local music store
Other observations/comments: As seen in a previous discussion this guitar was rode hard and put up wet. Oddly enough that gentleman said it had flat wound strings on it when he purchased it and so did mine. When I first got it the sound/projection was perfect for what I was doing with it. In the last 20 years or so I have switched to a considerably smaller body as in my Martin 000-16 custom shop and a 000-28 I just bought a few weeks ago. Still love the Guild but just do not play it all that often. I just had new frets installed as the old ones were destroyed many years ago by an incompetent repair guy and it is now really a joy to play.
