Hi Everyone !!!

New here, and not as much a collector/afficianado as just a casual player, for my own enjoyment, but have always loved Guild acoustics, whenever I got the opportunity to play one.

Back in early 2003 I bought a used Guild F47CE-HG, with the Fishman Prefix Pro On-Board Blender as a factory upgrade. It is a Westerly, R.I. made guitar, natural finish, and is a beautiful guitar that sounds as good as it looks!

I was wondering if anyone could tell me....

1) Does this Model have solid, or laminated sides?

2) What grade of Sitka was used for the top?

3) If the Serial number is around AK001600, can someone give me an approximate date of manufacture?

4) What material did these models use for saddles, nuts, and bridge pins?

5) What string gauge did these ship with? I have been told "10's", and want to know if "12's" would be structurally safe.

6) What would be a proper, Guild made or marketed (who makes their cases for them) deluxe hardshell case for this guitar? It currently lives in a nice thermoplastic TKL.

Any help would be greatly appreciatted!!

Thanks !

Here are some answers:

F47CEHR350-3606-721 .....................................................1599.99
Solid AA spruce top, solid mahogany back, laminated mahogany
sides, rosewood fingerboard, Fishman Prefix Pro system, natural
satin finish only, case
F47CE 350-3406-...........................................................1799.99
Solid AA spruce top, solid mahogany back, laminated mahogany
sides, rosewood fingerboard, Fishman Onboard Blender system,
high gloss, deluxe case
821 Natural 806 Black 837 Antique Burst

Maybe Hans will come by and help with the date.

I'm betting on plastic nut, saddle and pins.. or they would be bragging about bone.

12's were originally installed on this guitar (I'm pretty sure) Guild L350 strings most likely.

The cases were G&G, I bet Fender will sell you one.. For lots of money. :( :( :(

Hope this helps

Thanks !!!!

Is "Hans" Hans Moust?

I hope so, in my Internet searching about this guitar, I see that he is a true expert.

Wow, what a great resource this site is !!!

Found this http://www.letstalkguild.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4223&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=30 .

I take it hideglue is a former Westerley employee, and should know.

So I have a bone nut, and plastic (soon to be replaced) pins.

I guess this means, as I have a factory Fishman installed, that I have a Micarta saddle ?

Could I successfully change it out for bone, or ivory, without loss of the transducer/amplifier function?

I am looking also at one that is compensated.

If I can get some educated guesses on those new questions, and a "near date" of manufacture, I should be good to go !

Thanks for any responses !
