Well.....I just have to post on how much I Love the sound of my '77 F212XL. I played it for the first time in a church and the sound was just great! I played it through a behringer AD121 acoustic preamp into the board PA and the deep chimy delicous sound was there big time! I have a shadow nanomag pickup installed in it. This is the best guitar I have played to date.
It has that mahogany sound that is a bit dry but very clear...just right for a 12 string.

The acoustics in churches can be super.
I played three songs at a memorial service a couple of years ago and I was really taken aback by the sound.
I'd like to go back there just to play now and then.

Had a look at your ad eastcoast and if its going to fly you need to offer more detail about action height, saddle height, bellying, fret condition, tuners, has neck been reset or does it need one, is the bridge lifting etc...the marks on the neck I have seen before and are usually caused by the truss rods...sometimes just a surface finish crack and other times if the wood is cracked the fix has been to wick in some really thin super glue. I would maybe have a luthier look it over. Best of luck with the sale. They are wonderful instruments.

Hey Joe....I forgot how good the acoustics could be in a big building like a church. Once I played bagpipes in a church and the sound was awesome (or horrendous, depending on your view of bagpipes)! Kind of like singing in the shower without the soap, water and the fact that you are buck tooth naked... :D

Hey Chaz
Yes I know but I am just busting with how good it sounded...I would love to here one of the new models some day and I am real happy that Guild decided to make them again.

I just got done playing some songs on my F-212-XL and had to post. I LOVE that guitar. I play out fairly regularly these days. When I play the G-41, it is backup. When I play the 212, it is a duet. It can drive home a verse or float it on a breeze. It speaks alternately with authority and in whispers. When I play with the G-41 I am apt to get a comment on the lyrics or my voice. When I play with the 212 it is ALWAYS about the guitar. Those who are not familiar with guitars, are animated and curious about what it is. Those who are are reverent. Sometimes I will just strum chords over and over just to hear (and feel) it. Joy!

Chazmo, you list a n F-212-XL STD. I have not noticed an STD designation before. Is that simply "Standard"? And if it is standard, as opposed to what? NT? SB?
