Well, she finally came back today from the luthiers. Bottom crack at end pin glued up nice, bridge reglued and a JLD bridge doctor installed plus a new set of martin sp PB extra lights. This is going to be a take my time project as now I am just going to play the heck out of this guitar and humidify it and tweak the bridge doctor over the next couple of months...the top should settle in to where it likes to be and then we will see about a new (hopefully higher) saddle and no need for a neck reset. The neck and truss rods are in great shape as are the frets. As it is the guitar sounds delicous...what a great tone it has, the notes all blend together beautifully! It was a long wait but well worth it! So glad I finally got a Guild! My Tacoma is going to have to play second fidddle now...the neck on it is thinner so I can play it when my hand starts to get sore. Well, back to playing!

Hi Stringer; congratulations on your Doctor fix. One of the claims that the Dr's designer makes is that it improves sustain; do you notice any improvement? CJ

That's great news, 12stringer! Definitely go easy on cranking the JLD. Give the top time to adjust to small incremental adjustments, which sounds like your plan. The only negative report on it that I've ever heard was someone being over-zealous.

Pictures?? Do you think you can get a close-up pic of the JLD installed?

Hey Cap and Chazmo...I have a hard time telling if the sustain is increased as I hardly had a chance to hear the 12er before she went in to the luthiers...I can however say that on my Tacoma Jumbo, not only sustain was improved, but clarity and depth of tone (more piano like bottom end) and this on a guitar that already had lots of mojo! It was an obvious difference. On this F112 the sound is terrific...she does just ring and ring and the sweetness of the treble strings is the best i have heard on any guitar to date! There is a bit of buzz on the bottom strings so I can't comment on the bottom end yet...have to make a truss rod adjustment. Sorry I could not be more helpful with the difference the JLD bridge doctor made on this guitar but from previous experience I am sure it has helped considerably.
I will get some pictures of the bridge doctor installed this weekend and post them. It really is hard to tell that it is there by looking in the soundhole as it is mostly underneath the bridge. I actually think it looks kinda neat in there. I am going to make a new wood plug (it came with a mother of pearl plug) for over top of the one small bolt that goes through the bridge. The top is flatter and the soundhole is rising up already after only one night...I am impressed so far. I thought I would just pick the guitar up for 5 minutes this morning to "check it out" ...45 minutes later I had to make myself stop playing! Have to get my butt out the door and earn my keep!
Guild F112...One great guitar! :D

Thanks 12: over the last 18 months, 7 or 8 BBers have had these installed ... I don't think anyone has had anything but good things to say about them. CJ
