Great advice! This Guild is a collector's piece and with the added story from your mom it could be invaluable to you later. Since she wants to keep it in her collection for now maybe ensure that the strings are loosened a bit when it is put away.
Thinking one day you may get it and have the work performed.

Repair it for your mother - she keeps it, you visit her more and play it. Your mother might just start to play again.
