I heard an interview and in-studio performance on the NPR program "Fresh Air". The musicians were "John Doe and the Sadies", who offered a new twist on country music. I liked what I heard, so I did youtube search. Here is the ex-punk rocker with his Guild:

i am a huge john doe and X fan. Ive seen him play countless times. His main acoustic is a D35, probably from the late 70s. Ive also seen him with a '58 Aristocrat and a 60's Jetstar. Looks like an S-50 but with two pickups and a tailpiece and pickguasd layout ive never seen before on that model.

Mr. Doe, playing in December, with the '58 Aristocrat and 60s S-100 Polara.

Take another look TF! With those pickups, that pickguard, knobs, tuners and headstock it's more likely to be one of the first reissue Bluesbirds from around 1967.

Sincerely,

Wouldn't a '58 Aristocrat have the lipstick headstock?

Good catch, Hans. I was basing the year off information that was on the Internet, and in my excitement to post, I didn't look closely at the photo.
