I was recently introduced to the music of Ed Gerhard. This guy can play.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3IpYZLuf7Y

His most recent CD "Sunnyland" is an outstanding set of acoustic blues. I got it a week ago, this one will be in the hot rotation for a while. Available here. http://www.acousticmusicresource.com/ If you enjoy acoustic guitar music, check out their sampler CDs. A real bargain, and a great way to discover some new music. I got all of the available ones. 8)

He's one of my favorites, too, Dr. Spivey. His "The Water Is Wide" is the best arrangement and performance I've ever heard of that fine old chestnut. He endorsed Breedlove for a long time (might still for all I know), but I think we can forgive him for such a minor indiscretion. :)

He played at Breedlove's booth at winter NAMM.

Wonderful standing right in front of him while he played. Various instruments, and some if his own tunes as well.

Very gracious fellow.

Can you imagine how good he'd make a Guild sound.

I'd love to hear him play live, especially on a Guild. He does still endorse Breedlove, but plays other brands as well. He has that magical combination of playing and composing ability, like Thelonious Monk or Art Tatum. I ordered 2 more of his CDs today, and will keep an eye on his tour schedule.
