Let's say, for the sake of argument, that you had a DV73 to sell.

What would you consider a fair price for this elusive guitar?

Hypothetically.

Depending on condition, but if it's pristine I'm seeing it more in the $3800+ range. Less if it's beat up but I doubt the mythical guitar we're talking about, your friends guitar, would be beat up. I can't remember the last time I saw one advertized. It might even go higher......

I paid $2,900 for mine in excellent condition. I don't know if that's a fair price, a steal or if I overpaid. If I were to sell on Reverb etc. I'd start the listing at about $3,500 and might accept $3,200. Not sure there's any science to this or right vs. wrong answer but that would be my take.

The problem with these is there is not a lot of history to go on so it comes down to how badly the buyer wants the DV 73.

Between 3 and 4 grand, I would imagine.
I have never actually seen one in real life, and don’t expect to , anytime soon.

I paid $2550 in 2013. Unless I was desperate to sell, I'd probably start at $3500, and wouldn't sell for less than $3K (on the open market)...

Dang I paid 1300 for mine. Of course I had to put a little money in it, loose brace, split bridge, some loose neck binding, new bone saddle and nut. It has pretty pronounced runout, but it really is a great sounding guitar.

Timing is everything... Shortly after I joined LTG in 2006, I saw a NOS DV-73 for sale at "The String Shoppe" for $1795. Wish I had jumped on it at the time, but I was in my "try all the tone woods" phase. I didn't get bit by the DV-7X bug until a couple years later.

The DV74 is rarer, but the DV73 is more striking in appearance. I think $3,000 - $3,500 is a fair range for either one in excellent condition. I paid $3,400 for the DV74, which I found on Facebook Marketplace. I paid a lot less for the DV73, but it was at an online estate auction. Both guitars are in excellent condition.

I'd never even consider anything close to what I PAID for my DV-72. Sandy messaged me or called or something and said, "Craigslist, Las Vegas, go, now!" So, I did. He didn't want a whole lot of money and I offered and got it for less. Took a month to close the deal and with the owner being out of town so much there were times I thought he'd probably sold it to someone else. But what I paid for it has nothing to do with what it's worth. And the DV-73's are a lot more rare.

That is my "holy grail" Guild, although I may never have one.

FNG has a DV73 'burst, even more rare...

Hey Dread, mine isn't a sunburst. I think I have pic of one in sunburst locked up on photobucket, let me see if I can dig it out.

I have seen a beautiful burst DV-52, but have never seen a burst DV-7X... I think it would be stunning!
