Hello all, just received my first Guild today. It's a 2000 DV52, this is the first guitar I ever bought over the internet so I was kinda nervous. It is in really great shape, all I could find was one tiny ding in the top and a couple small dings in the back of the neck, no scratches anywhere in the finish. Someone added a tusq compensated saddle and didn't do a real pretty job fitting it, so will yank it and fit a new compensated bone saddle, no biggie. It needs a good cleaning, looks to have sat for quite awhile. Will try to get it cleaned up and some pics posted over the weekend :) The strings are older than dirt, and it still sounds good, will get a new set on there tomorrow and see what she does. From what I can tell I really think this might be "the one" :D

Thanks all, I found my way here when I began searching for a new acoustic. I kept finding references to the DV52 showing up here and there while searching, I had never heard of them. Got to diggin for info and found this forum, that was the nail in coffin... I hope I don't get bit as hard into the Guild habit as I have the tube amp building habit, have already been eyeing some D-55's.....

Why would you do that when you already have the venerable DV-52?? :)

I found this forum because I was curious about the DV-52, as I hadn't heard it mentioned much... I'm always hearing about Martin this, Taylor that, your mom's Gibson, etc etc, so I decided to find out why no one talks about the awesome DV-52. And... I ended up here!

Within a few short months I went from 1 Guild to 5 Guilds. But I've since sold two and am down to a nice stable of three Guilds... which are plenty. For now.

Welcome to LTG frankieb.

A '96 DV52 was the first Guild that I ever owned and I bought it here from Cypress Knee. I considered it my first "real" guitar. When it arrived I was in awe of the tone, the sustain, the build, the feel, the look and I was immediately enamored with Guild.

It has moved on to Europe and sounds better in the hands of the current owner, but an incredible guitar through and through.

I credit the great folks here, for their help in finding it for me.

Once again, welcome.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, this looks to be a really great forum.

What makes it a really great forum is your participation. We love guitars, we love Guilds, but we also love to know about each other. It is a very different place on the web.

Congrats, frankieb, you scored a nice one! Best value going on a dread, IMHO. You won't believe your ears when you get her re-strung and set up properly!

Congrats! I bought my DV52 also the internet also and had no idea what to expect. The guitar turned out to be wonderful -- a spotless '97 in original case with the hang tags! I love the smaller neck profile and scalloped bracing. The only "issue" I have with this guitar is that it really needs to be played and opened up. I don't believe that this guitar did anything but sit in a case before I got it. So, I play it, and play it, and play it -- more than any other guitar I own;-)
