After reading about the work done by Bill Tippin, decided to give him a ring. After talking with him a couple times, decided to send the DV-73 to him for some work. He is going to hand craft a new bridge, and put the inlays from the old one in it. He took a look at the bridgeplate, and commented that he thought it was not seated right, and noted it was very similar to a mid 80s Martin bridgeplate..way too large. It is maple, and he probably is going to resize or replace the current bridgeplate with a new maple on. Said the larger bridgeplates cause too large of a pivot point, and a smaller one makes the top much more stable and improve the sound. Said it probably could stand a refret, since there was some minor wear, but he said a couple were a little loose. Also going to reglue some binding, and see if he can fix the small lifted finish on the face of the headstock. Bone nut, saddle and pins along with a standard bluegrass set up, and I should be good to go.
It's a small world, because I told him I lived in Milton, FL, a little cracker town outside of Pensacola, FL, and he said he knew all about it, since he grew up here. He was very familar with the lack of quality repair guys in the area.
West...if you read this, he said he would be able to make some bone pins with turquoise inlays. I think I might have him do that, and I'll let ya know how they work out, since you said you might be interested in a set of these.
Don't think he works cheap though, but we'll see.

Details to follow!!

Dadgum Effin, very agressive and bold on your part. You are obviously very confident in him. I will be seriously on the edge of my seat waiting to hear the results. I would be most interested in hearing how your pins, along with the other work, come out. I might be very interested myself.

Where is he located Effin?

Good luck!

Where'd you get the pins Gary? BTW, that's an impressive site Nichols has.....I thoroughly enjoyed both music and pictures. Now I want a Texas flag TRC.....he displays one on his site. SH2...now that's cool.

Not much time yet to thoroughly evaluate the A-25.
Had the grand-daughters here for a week.

But I'll be doing it real soon !
