When I had my heart bypass surgery, you fine folks contributed to a fund that Don collected for me. In addition to the nice planter, I was able to purchase a Saga Tele kit from Don, and he even painted it for me. (It's Allis Chalmers yellow :D ) Thanks to everyone! I just now got it fully assembled, here it is:

Yeah, Don had built one for himself and painted it that color, I fell in love with it, and he had some cans of Allis-Chalmer yellow left :D

Only a few hours assembly time. I'm not sure how long it took Don to paint it, but it sure is high gloss. I final polished the finish with some compound he gave me, then I assembled the mechanical and electrical stuff - real easy.

I think all I need now is an "LTG" decal for the headstock!

Mighty fine-looking tele Dread ... mighty fine! What kind of amp are you playing it through? I like the color better than John Deere green anyway  CJ

I like it, Dread! It's very nostalgic for me. I drove an Allis-Chalmers forklift in my youth when I worked in an aluminum foundry for a couple of years. Ahhh. Memories.

How 'bout some sound clips?

It isn't completely finished yet, haven't set action, intonation, etc. But initially it sounds pretty good!

My first banjo (25 years ago) was one I built from a Saga Musical Instrument kit as well. I still have it and play it regularly.

Saga has all kinds of new stuff too - mandolin kits, acoustic guitar kits, etc. It's not real high end stuff, but it ain't bad either. They use nice woods and triple nickle plated hardware. Can't quite tell you about the pickups yet.
