I mentioned my B-25 in a earlier response and since then I've had an epiphany regarding a GF-50 that has me captivated. It struck me during a quiet moment that the GF-50 is my B-25 with volume and bass. I didn't like the B-25 size or sunburst initially and the GF-50 sat in my closet for 20 years. I thought I would play the GF-50 before putting it up for sale and something clicked. It could be the size, but the GF-50 feels comfortable and the sound is clear and plentiful.

I was less than impressed with both when I got them home, but they won me over. I am always at my best when I stumble into good fortune.

Same here. I own more Gibsons than Guilds, but have been drawn to both brands for fifty years! I also happen to have your new guitar's twin. This one is from 2009, with '57 humbuckers and a neck they called the "60/30 profile." The idea was that it's .030" wider than a typical '60s Gibson neck. I've got two other Gibsons with the same profile, and for me, it's the most comfortable I've ever played on an electric (and happily I have two Guild acoustics with a very similar profile!):

Don't hate me, either, I also bought a Gibson... a Gibson ES-335 Dot in near-mint condition, same cherry red as bobouz's (above). But! I swear, it's justified because I was on my way to purchase a Guild when it happened. I really was!
There was an ad on the local internet pawn shop here about two-months before the pandemic started (Kijiji, the Canadian version of Craigslist) for a Guild D-240E natural, like new, for $250 (US $200), which is dirt cheap, even for an import; I ran out the door after it the minute a Kijiji email alert came in; you don't see Guilds for sale around here hardly ever, there is no Guild dealer for a thousand miles.
This seller was not exactly located in the best part of the island, far from it. Dude had three guitars hanging on a wall, the Guild, the ES-335 Dot and some black Kramer or Jackson type of pointy-headstock shredder. Nice guy, although highly stressed, he was selling off a lot of what he owned because he was going away for a few years. All I was really thinking was that a Guild D-240E is a cheap Guild that I could leave out on a stand or up against a wall and not have to worry about putting it back in the case all the time, basically a Guild banger. So I took the ES-335 Dot, too (who wouldn't?), got the two of them for $500 CDN, about US $400. Pure, dumb luck; totaled about 1/8th of retail. Felt horrible for the guy but I really hope I never see him again. The ES-335 is, of course, badass.

Always wanted a Gibson acoustic L-1 or L-00 series. Parlor size. Y'know, a century-old model, like the one Robert Johnson has in that famous, perhaps only, photo of him, dressed to the 9s. Rare as a comet in this vicinity.

Nice score Clayton! When you find a good Gibson electric they are damn fine guitars. No apologies needed.

I owned an ES347 bought new around 1990 when my wife and I were visiting her parents down in GA. Shipped it home. I knew it was the one right away, after having tried dozens of new and old 335ish models up here in MA. What a great guitar that was. Sold it reluctantly a few years ago primarily because of the size and weight, but also to fund a few acoustics.

A few years ago I bought online an Epi 339 because of the size, which is perfect for me now, but it was just a bit lacking all around. I guess I was spoiled from the 347. Some day maybe I’ll get lucky and find a good Gibby 339 like you. Congrats again!

Congrats on that fine Gibson!
Here’s my only Gibson. It’s gilt. Or Guilded now. However you say it.

I am amused by playing along with the stereotype of a brand specific fanboi who will knock other brands at the slightest provocation but personally I believe you won't know how good Guilds are until you have compared them to the competition. A batting average of .400 is outstanding but it still means they miss more than they hit. So Guild doesn't have to win every comparison to still be the best :)

And… I bought another non-guild (although I would love to have a Guild resonator guitar). I got this barely used Republic Highway 61 woody resonator guitar from Reverb. I have to say, I’m impressed! It’s fun to play, it loud, has a Lace pickup and isn’t very heavy. I’m a happy camper.
