As the thread title states, I bought a Gibson. I wasn’t planning on it. I went to Mr. Music in Allston, MA, plugged in a barely used cherry red 2020 ES-339 with a big fat ‘59 neck, and that was that. I’ll miss the ‘86 SF-4 I just sold, but I just couldn’t get comfortable with the neck and 1 5/8th nut. I just played my ‘68 X-500, and let me tell you, I still love Guilds. But this Gibson is sweet!

Nothing wrong with a Gibson. I've got a few myself.

Congratulations!

I wanted so badly wanted to love an ES-339 I bought several years ago, perfect size, so light and comfortable! But I just couldn't get used to the fretboard nibs. Back it went for an easy return to GC.

I've never been a big Gibson Semi-hollow guy, but when it comes to Les Pauls? Oh my, yes. Until recently my most expensive guitar was a Les Paul.

That's beautiful, Clayton. I've learned by now that it's good to act on instinct with guitars that just feel right.

I really like the body size of the ES-339s, and for a while I was infatuated with the Midtown Custom. I've only tried one Gibson that I really connected with -- a 2000s LP Classic with the snot green neck inlays -- but I didn't have the money at the time. Still waiting for that one that I'll grab on instinct.

My first guitar was a Gibson B-25. I still consider it the gold standard for how all acoustics should play. If only it brought a little bass and volume to the party. I still have the B-25 with no plans to ever part ways.

Beautiful guitar! Congrats.

Looks like a classic. What are the pickups on that beauty?
Gibson 57 and 57+ humbuckers in this one.
Davisman- love the Kacey M. Clip.

A bit of my guitar history:
1st guitar I bought: Les Paul Studio in wine red in 1997. I’ve changed almost all of the parts by now, but it will NEVER be sold. I’m a guitar’o’holic. I admit it!
