New to the board, hi all ----I am curious to know if Willie is still around. I would like to try and contact him regarding the RB T-200 I have. I bought it over 20 years ago for next to nothing. The previous owner milled a hole in the center of the body to install a DiMarzio humbucker. My goal is to at least identify the supplier of the pickguard material to complete the restoration. If not I will have to try and match it the best I can and have it custom made.

One other weird thing, when I remove the strings, the neck is warped. When I put them on, the neck straightens out.....Nonetheless, it plays and sounds fantastic without fret buzz or gremlins.

I too would be interested to see what happened to Willie. I've heard so many great things about him!

Hello madstereoman,

Welcome to the forum. We've been in contact already through my website but so far I haven't had the time to get back with you.

Re. Willie Fritscher:
From time to time I e-mail with Willie re. things that took place in Westerly during the last 25 years but I can't give out addresses from private individuals. I hope you understand that.
However I'm quite sure that he would not be able to tell you who supplied them with the pickguard material that was used on the T-200/T-250. So far I've seen 4 different styles of pickguards and they were all original. In usual Guild fashion they would use any material they had lying around. Charlie Morenzoni was the person responsible for that department and he was pretty good at it. Not only did they use different material but the pickguards were different in shape as well, depending on the body style.

You might find it interesting to know that the neck on your guitar is actually the neck for a Guild Flyer from 1986, which was also the year of introduction for the T-200. It doesn't surprise me that Guild would do a thing like that. It's basically the same style neck.

Anyway, the easiest way to get a proper pickguard for your T-200 is to have somebody make you one. If you want me to help you with that, just get back with me through my regular e-mail address. That is the address that you did send the photos to.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Is that why the serial number began with "HC" and not "HK"? - I just thought that was odd.

I absolutely would like that. I have been on the lookout for a competent person who would be able to correctly match the gauge, colors and shape, but have yet to find them!
