So I don't do the finger pokes any more, I have a sensor that attaches to my skin and I can scan it with their little scanner.

Problem was, the 3 mo supply of sensors was $100.

Last visit, my doc set me up with this outfit that gave me a new scanner and a box of sensors for free. The will be free heretofore. I llike free.

Interested? PM me and I'll get you the info, You will need a prescription.

My friend Daniel is an insulin dependent diabetic. He has an implant under his skin in his chest. When he feels his blood sugar is off, he just activates an app on his phone, and places the phone over the implant. His phone then tells him what his blood sugar is. Sad that he has to do this, but the technology is pretty amazing!!

Dig into the details of your insurance coverage and this offer.

For example, the "free offer" for FreeStyle Libre (a continuous glucose monitoring system) is not available to patients covered by Medicare or Medicaid and to some residents of Massachusetts. If that doesn't apply now, it may soon apply in the future. There is also a long history of scams involving Medicare and "diabetes supplies".

Not saying that applies to your system or your doctor's recommendation but if you expect "free heretofore" to last more than two years from now or after you enroll in Medicare you might be surprised.

Been insulin dependent 36 years and have worn a mask more than Zorro or The Lone Ranger. So far have kept Covid at Bay and will continue to follow those guidelines.
I like learning from LTG members and guitaring on Guilds!

Sometimes steps are taken to bring the US closer to the civilized world with respect to health care:
One representative who voted against the bill apparently echoed the sentiment a lot of people have. Diabetics should just go on a diet and lose weight.

Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner: " My diet book isn't selling well." "What's the name of it?" "Hey Fatso."

If someone would like to explain how commenting on a bill currently under consideration in the US House of Representatives is not political then I would like to hear it.

Therein lies the difference between 3rd world and civilization: Someone's life depending on "market value".
Warning: Slippery slope ahead.
Every attempt to run economic systems without market value considerations have failed...miserably.

Google it.

And if anyone would like to explain how a thread focused on healthcare cost in the US society on a forum comprised of an International membership (many from countries where health care is not defined as an "economic system") can be addressed without any political allusions, I'd love to hear it.... ;)
Maybe the topic should be added to the "do not" list?
