One beautiful guitar and the close-up of the top wood grain is stunning. What strings

These are wonderful models. I bought one with tons of finish checking but I couldn't help myself. It will be sent down to Tom Jacobs to remedy that. (Yeah, I know, leave it along, it has nothing to do with sound/tone). But, I want this particular guitar to be stylin'!!! So, it's gonna happen for sure.

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what model Guild is it? I am guessing it is a high end model by all the "dressing."

It's simply the Guild "Deco". Made in the custom shop in Nashville, see here in the 1998 catalog:

Hi Tom welcome aboard! There is some more Deco info from owners and others' comments to be found in these pages with a patient search.
I'm still getting up to speed on this new computer or I'd try to find and post some links, but Ralf pretty much zeroed on the scarce factory catalog info about it.

Just curious on this one. I have no special insurance for my guitars. I checked with my Insurance man (Freemont) and he assured me my guitars would be covered under the contents provision of my home owners insurance. Since the only things in my house of any value are guitars and firearms (and my dogs and cats of course) there is more than enough coverage if there is a catastrophic loss like fire or whatever.

One of the caveats is that the guitars cannot be used as working/gigging guitars and basically can't leave the house except for maintenance/repair etc. And, that's fine since I don't play out anymore.
