I apologize as I can't cut or download pix or links on my antique notepad here at home but there are two JF3O' s on Reverb....both around the same price.

I like the Westerly ATB as it just screams vintage Guild. Seller sent me picture of bridge/saddle looks fine. My only issue is I like bursts w.out any blems....An NT...appearance doesn't matter but I'm anal on bursts looks. His are minor...but there.

Corona burst looks more like an Orph burst to me but I like it. Seems in fine shape cosmetically.

Different builds....assume different nut size as well. Would probably prefer the Westerly to be a closer sonic match to my JF30-12, but burst makes it kinda moot as far as sitting on the rack next to it.

Obviouly can't play and return if "I don't like it"..... And with prices for those I think I'm at the higher end of the market so the short term rental cost could be high if I didn't want to keep it..plus it's getting cold out there!!!

But I have two slots in my jumbo rack.......hmmmm....F50 and F40??

I like the Rivington offering. The only returnable, if you can get a label up and printed in the 1 day window.

Have one of them F30's in hog, a 72. Actually bringing it to Preble today for some work ala MacBlane.

Ever use him? Youre not far from there.

For the bursts, I vote for the one from Brent's, but then a couple of small nicks wouldn't be an issue for me. Can they be touched up?

If the scratches will drive you crazy go with Steve's. That's a beauty, too.

Or both. Both is always good!

Looked it up, beecee, another town in NY I never heard of, and I've been in upstate my whole life. I'm an hour and a half to the SW. Steve Kovacik is under an hour away just outside of Schenectady, but if Macblane is a Guild vintage guy I'll keep the link for the eventual reset on my '63.

Your F30 isn't a jumbo, though, is it? The Rivington is, but you're craving the RW tone, I guess.

Thanks!

Actually looking for maple, not fond of RW.

I need to follow up on that F30...I assumed same size as mine.

I'll get you a before and after on MacBlane's work.... It's betterthan his website!!

I disagree. I think the other one fills the identified niche much better.

Good point!

For similar money, I would go for the Westerly guitar. Corona models are not generally valued as highly as Westerly models (possibly undeservedly so).

Well, both bursts are nice. Just going by condition, I prefer "excellent" over "good." The Corona's fretboard is definitely rosewood. The Westerly fretboard looks dark enough to be ebony, but hard to be sure. Even though I've got a Corona JF30-12, I think I'd go with the Westerly. That's going to be a killer 6-string!

On second thought, maybe you should get the other one.
And as for the empty slot, you could always hang a good salami in it,
'cause you know, playing the guitar can make you reeeeeeeeally hungry.
Problem solved.

So I
Looked it up, beecee, another town in NY I never heard of, and I've been in upstate my whole life. I'm an hour and a half to the SW. Steve Kovacik is under an hour away just outside of Schenectady, but if Macblane is a Guild vintage guy I'll keep the link for the eventual reset on my '63.

So I just got back bringing my F30 to the luthier, (MacBlane), who has done all my work over the years.

He opens up the case and says. oh no another F30!!! Tell me you don't want a neck reset....uh oh I think...is he one of "them"????

I ask what's wrong...is there an issue w. a Guild reset??? Fearing the worst but he says...here take a look in back.

He has 9 guitars in various states of neck reset...including 2 other F30s!!!!! He says they tend to have a bit more surface area glued but he's never had an issue doing one. He was thrilled to see so many F30s at once...he likes them...deep for their size he says...nice growl for a smaller body...hmmm. Knowshis stuff.

Of interest, there was a 1934 Martin apart for a reset as well as restoring/repairing the bridge. Maybe it was a 43....there was an ebony "rod" in place of steel...that's why Im thinking he said 43...steel shortage.

So I was happy to hear he doesn't have the Guild neck reset phobia we hear so much about.

If you are bothered by finish dings and scratches, perhaps old is not for you. You may be a new and shiny guy. I remember bringing my 65 Texan home. It had no fewer than five large case bites on it's top, done so far in the past they just kind of blended into the top. Not two weeks later, I almost stepped on one of my dogs and ran the top into a metal music stand. Three inch scratch into bare wood on the dark edge of the burst. Olive oil and dust made it much less angry. It was where my arm rests, and another five years of sweat has made it blend in with the others. I just don't like pristine guitars. It was not a tragedy but a mild event.
