Ilmung, I have several set-neck DeArmonds - I have limited recent experience playing
electrics, but I've been pleased with the build quality and the tones being
produced thus far by these instruments.

IME / IMO...
$600 sounds perhaps just a little on the high side in the current market for a used set-neck
DeArmond Jet Star but not too far out of line - if in excellent condition with the original
DeArmond Gold Tone pickups and a decent HSC, and if $600 includes shipping, maybe.

The wild Tyrian Purple finish seen in the link ruedi posted seems to
be less common than some of the other colors and may command a somewhat higher price.

Are the pickups the same as the green M-73 in this photo?
If so, it probably has very similar playing characteristics and finish quality.

Having owned at one time virtually all of the Korean DeArmonds and many Indonesian bolt-in neck models I will tell you the DeArmond Jetstar is a great guitar. The neck is wide but not thick. It is like the green S73 shown above but possibly a little wider. It also has the GoldTone humbucker pickups used on most Korean guitars other than the X145.
The nice thing about the DA Jetstar is it's mahogany body.
It's heafty compared to the current Guild T-Birds and more like the vintage Guild Thunderbirds, made of mahogany.

HSC is Hard Shell Case. Many came with gig bags.

They may well be.
As bowenite pointed out and I've generally found to be true in my recent observations
of these instruments for sale in North America,
solid-body DeArmonds seem to be more often for sale with gig bags rather than hard-shell cases.

I was too late for the Dearmond M-75 ....:(
But I found accidentely another Guild Nightbird 1986 in very good condition but with EMG pickups .
I understood that the EMG pickups are not sought after pickups under the Guilds owners ?
Am I right to say this .......?

Question: What is better than a Nightbird?

Answer: Two Nightbirds.

Go for it, Ilmung! If you don't like the pickups, you can still swap them, IMO this is the least concern I think as long as the guitar itself is fine.

The EMGs came stock in many Nightbirds. They work and sound fine. The Guild HB1s were pretty rare. I think you would love it!

The 1986 catalog showed only Kent Armstrong (left) or EMG pickups (right) as options:

I do not think I've tried or heard the Armstrong's in a NB. I believe my guitar had EMGs. I dont know when, or if, the HB1s were used. They may have been special order?
