No, but maybe it's a G-75?

That would make it a D-35 from 1979.

Out of curiousity what's the asking price for that in NZ :?:

I got this info off the Guild website - but Hans obviously has abetter source of info.

My D35 serial number is 196992. From this I had guessed it was pretty early in 1979 before the system changed in September 1979 to individual model numbers - but the one you have quoted doesn't exactly tally with the D35 numbers listed above having a Y instead of a number as the penultimate digit :?

I think we have a situation here in Newsyland.

Recently, BBer Neil Cross has had a number of high-end Guilds for sale on our Trademe. Expensive, to the casual observer but as we all know, great value compared with "the competition".

I suspect, that there are other Guild owners out there who want to ride the coat-tails.

Doubtless, you saw this .......... viewtopic.php?f=15&t=13759

This turkey had a BIN of NZ $18,000 on the guitar. No comment necessary !!!

And we have , to a lesser degree, the same situation with the D35.

Opening bid of NZ $2000 required: ........ US $1260 / 772 Pounds.

BIN NZ $2500: ........... US $1575 / 965 Pounds.

...... and obviously I was assuming that the Y had to be a number that looked like a Y and that the 3 and the 8 were correct!

I was wondering that but couldn't immediately think of a number that looked like a Y - I'd guess 7 would be the best bet :?: If so it would make it late 1979 - Oct - Dec.

Hi Guys,

I bought a Westerly D55 off Neil, wonderful wonderful guitar, paid $2700 NZD for it, about the same price as a used D28. Last D35 I looked at, in very well played condition, el mucho mojo, felt like it was hewn from solid, 1974, went for $700.00 NZD. Unfortunately outside of any elastcity I had in the budget at the time....

There was a Westerly D4 around for $1350 NZD at the same time I bought my D55 which I was tempted by, but at the time the gods of wealth were smiling upon me so I got the D55 instead...

Never played or saw the D4, but I dont think it ever sold ?

Coastie can probably confirm, but Guilds seem fairly rare over here, with the obvious exception of the current GAD's and DV4 range.

Cheers, Ian

Mine (with pickup fitted but needing some repair - bent tuning peg, replacing plastic nut and saddle) cost me £850 including case from Vintage & rare Guitars, Bath, a couple of years ago. At that time the £ was worth about US $2 but has since dropped to UD $1.60. I had a good (and cheap) luthier set it up for £55 and bone pins plus fitting another £20 in a guitar shop in Swindon so all it it cost me £925.
