I don't know about you guys, but I don't see a lot of used or new Guilds for sale (I'm in Seattle), but now I'm seeing a 1974 Guild D44M for 2100 and a 1967 Guild D44 for 1499. They're at different places a little far apart so hard to compare both but ..........

There’s a very nice looking ‘74 D44M at Georgetown Music near Seattle.

I truly want people to believe this completely, do not move here! It rains all the time and people are terrible

I checked out this one, at Music Go 'Round in Natick, MA, earlier this week. Pretty good! Not as powerful as the one other D44M that I'm familiar with -- the bass on that one is fantastic -- but it's good, and in quite good shape too.

A few very minor cosmetic issues (piece of loose binding); the nut is narrower than I'm used to, and the saddle is too low for me, but it may be perfect for you.

AND -- the price is 100 bucks cheaper than the Reverb price if you buy direct from the store.

Yes, but the TRC & pickguard police would be after you in a heartbeat!

Yep, I noticed that right away too! No tan lines from a Guild pickguard though, which would have been bigger than the Martin style PG that's on it, so maybe this guitar originally shipped without a pickguard?

That is the pearwood version, the original D44. Nice! The D44M (maple) came along a little later, in 1971

I'd love to check out the D44 -- it looks pretty fine! (But aggh! -- those tuners!)
Something must have impacted the supply of tuners in 1967, because assorted versions of those awful Japanese tuners came standard on both Gibsons & Guilds that year. I’ve seen them on many ‘67 Gibsons & Gibson-made Epiphones, as well as a smaller number of ‘67 Guilds. Kind of amazing that they‘ve remained on this particular D-44, because they truly are terrible tuners!

So a D-44m is a G37 with a flat back? Can anyone compare the two?
