Congrats. I've been wanting a mahogany top guitar for a while now. But I need to get rid of one before I do. And I just can' seem to part with any.

Congratulations Daveyo! We'll definitely be waiting for those pics!

At the risk of derailing this thread, may I ask anyone who knows why there's little bracing on the D15 / D25 models? In all the photos of them I've seen, there's no bracing inside the soundhole. Is it because mahogany is a much stiffer wood that too much bracing isn't required? Hehe I apologize for my ignorance. :)

The D-15 and the D-25 have solid mahogany sides, but a laminated back. The back was pressed into the arched shape. As I understand it, that process made it stiff enough that it didn't require bracing. The tops of those guitars are still braced.

The top bracing on the D25s of the '90s vintage have in scalloped braces which are rear shifted relative to a standard Martin X-brace. My guess is that the D15 has the same.

Ah, yes. The arched laminated back reinforces it. Thanks all!

And congrats again, Daveyo! :)

I got my (1988) D15 last week. It's very interesting. The tone is different than any of the others. It rings like a bell -- but not like a maple guitar. It is not big on the low end -- but hardly thin sounding. Very, very "woody" sounding. That's about the best way to describe it. Loud too. (Oh yeah, it's a Guild -- of COURSE it's "loud.") I guess the biggest surprise is how ballsy the guitar sounds when strummed or played percussively. That I did not expect from an all hog dread. I really, really like it. I play it constantly since I've gotten it.

Scalloped? On a D25? Not according to '96 or catalog or first Guild Gallery, at least. Methinks you were thinking of D55 or just had an "oopsie" moment...
Entry level axes like D4/D25/D15/D17 got "Standard" bracing as far as I've ever seen.
