Hi all. Mike here. I have been searching this site to try and find out the value of my D-66 Gruhn model guitar and haven't been to successfull. A little info about myself first. I taught myself to play when I was 11 years old. My first electric guitar was a cream yellow 1963 Fender Esquire. My last electric was a 1965 white Fender Mustang. Wish I would of hung on to them. Anyway, about ten years ago I asked a friend of mine, who owns a music store in Colorado Springs, to let me know if he ever gets in a nice Guild acoustic guitar, I would be interested. So he calls me one day and tells me he has a Guild he got in, to sell on consignment. After playing it for a few minutes, I paid him $300.00 cash. It is in excellent condition. The only thing I can see wrong with it is some strum scratches on the pick guard. These can only be seen from a certain angle. The label on the inside has a typewritten line on it that reads "Co-designed by George Gruhn" Serial NO. 100051. Model D-66 NT. I will try and post some pictures at a later date. Love this site, especially the pictures of the many beautiful guitars posted by members.

Thanks,
Mike

Hello Mike,

Welcome! You did well buying that guitar. Actually it's the twin (serial number next to your's) to John Kidder's D-66, who's a member here as well.
You will soon find out what these models usually bring since there will be a lot of posters that would be happy to take it off your hands!

Yes, and make sure you post some pictures!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Those are very nice guitars and that's a very good deal. In fact you'v managed to bump me down a notch on the "best deal" list from a discussion a while back. I purchased Gruhn era F44 for $500 around ten years ago. That's one of the sweetest deals I've heard of. And I'd defnitely file it under "guitar destiny."

A D-66 in excellent conditon. Sweet! I'd say 2 grandish, give or take, maybe more with the right motivated buyer. Gruhn has a F-46 on his website and he is asking 2 grand firm.

Would love to see some pics!! Are you looking to sell? 8)

Thanks for the compliments. I will try and get some pictures up this weekend. Nope! Not interested in selling. If things get that bad, I would sell my car and my house before I would sell my guitar.

That is just one heck of a deal on a D-66. D60s, have been trading in the $1500-2000 range, don't think I've seen an eBay D66 for a long time.

It's a can't miss guitar, IMHO. Welcome aboard, and although I don't want your house and car, I'll join the lineup for the guitar anytime.

My D-64 was appraised by Gruhn at $1,500, and it sounds like yours is in better shape. You absolutely are in the lead for the "best deal" prize - this will be hard to top!

That was six years ago, FNG, but you could be right. It's not for sale, anyway, I did it simply because I was curious. But it is in "quite played" condition, which lowers it's value, I'm sure. I have really played it hard for 25 years - scratches and dings...

New saddle, new nut, and a re-fret a few years ago. Everything else original.

But the *sound*, oh my!

D-66 Take care of that baby.
It is a well sought after gem.
I have one also,it blows my martin d-42 out of the water.
It sounds like a grand piano!
Value-2-3k but selling those is not an option.

Hi all. Well I have pictures to post of my D-66, but I'm not sure how to do it. Don't see a browse button to access my pictures file. Checked in FAQ, but it didn't really tell me how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried to post my pictures via the Image Shack method(Thanks, walrus). NO luck. There's got to be an easier way to do this. Maybe I can send them to someone who knows how to do this. Any volunteers? Or at lease steer me in a direction that allows me to do it myself.

Mike.

Well this works even for a dummy like me - open a Photobucket account (free) - upload the picture you want from your PC to Photobucket using browze/open/save. Click on the picture, click on the bottom of the 3 boxed (if it doesn't say image copied, Ctrl C on it), Open a dialogue box in LTG, click on 'image', space one to the right and either click 'paste' or Ctrl V and your picture link should appear and show as a picture when you click submit.

Oh my! $300? Should we start a poll for the best deal of all time?

That is a beauty, Timmark - I'm guessing it sounds as good as it looks - does it?
