d-55 string set

hi everyone my name is agustin, i live in argentina and i bought a tacoma d-55 six months ago which i love.
however, i'm finding it pretty tough for bare-fingerstyle play.i'm playing with john pearse 0.12 now, do you guys think i should go lower or maybe i haven't got used to the guitar yet?

Have the setup checked by a professional, if you can. I fingerpick .13 and .17 on the top two just fine on a D-55.

The (mine anyway) D-55 comes with lights (12-53) . . . As suggested, a proper setup should take care of things. Usually the nut slots are too high, some frets sometimes need leveling, the saddle usually needs adjusted, and of course, the truss rod needs to have the proper relief.

Nothing major, but definately worthwhile.

Which would be the answer to finding it difficult to play certain chords.
