Thanks for starting this thread -- these are super guitars!

Mine's also a blond, also made in 1981 (Sept 14), stamped "factory second" (though I can't figure out why -- it's in very good shape).

Anyone know how many were made? Must be somewhat rare, as mine is the only one I've ever seen.

Gotcha -- thanks!

You can delete this if you like -- I'll fill in the blanks properly and respond to the oringal thread.

No problem. It was an interesting question.

The reviews section seemed like a good idea at the time but people really were not interested in semi-archival material in a common format. They wanted to add their two cents worth, veer or otherwise ignore the (not well explained) spirit of the section.

It seems a bit odd to rate decades-old guitars on fit and finish. Are you rating it based on on the way it was when you got it, or when it left the factory? And playability can always be dialed in according to the wishes of the player.

The section was part of LTG before I was. The intent is lost in the mists of time, at least as far as I am concerned, but there was definitely an unspoken hope that the reviews would be written by the first or original owner of an instrument that was purchased as new.

Yep, I have an '85 D-46 (without the rosewood strip). If I could only have one acoustic 6 string, this would be it. It has a tone that is different from your standard rosewood, mahogany or maple bodies. Love it.
