Well I got my first Guild acoustic today, I bid $389 on ebay for this guitar thinking there is no way you can buy an American made acoustic 12 string for under $400. Well here it is now...

It's in better shape than I thought it would be...
Why do D-25's go for so cheap?
I'm still wrestling with it right now, I've only played electric 12's before.... this is NO Rickenbacker, the neck is wiiiiide.

How can you could go wrong getting a Guild 12 for under 400.00, especially if she's playable? Not sure if the D25-12 has dual truss rods which would explain the wide neck...

If Mr Tidy's experience with 12 strings is only with electrics, expecially Rics, anything acoustic will look like a carrier's flight deck to him. but the fun you get out of that huge chunk of wood is worth it. BTW, an old Gibson B-45-12 has a wider neck...2 full inches.

okay, I'm used to it now... I'm not even sure if this is a good one or not, but this 12 string sounds like angels singing when I strum it! I'm getting used to the wide fretboard. And I think the action might be a little high up around the 10th fret, but I don't go up there much. It has an extra tall bridge which looks like it could be shortened a bit to lower the action. Also if the truss rod was a little tighter, pulling the slight "bend" out of the neck, I imagine the action would lower also (farther up the neck).
This thing is really loud, is that because of the arched back... or just the 6 extra strings?

Wide in comparison to 6-strings. The D25-12 the same as my D212 and every Guild 12-string I believe has double truss rods. The neck of the 12-strings is for the spacing of the strings and ease of playability, I would guess.

I just ordered my first GAD. Swore I wouldn't buy a Chinese made Guild, but after everything I've read, I said what the heck and ordered a GAD G212E ANT from Power Alley in upstate NY. I read somewhere in my research that early GAD 212s had just the single truss rod, but newer are now with duals. Anyone with Guild GAD 212 experience?
