My new D20 has the shaded top and back. It’s ok, but frankly I prefer the plain top version…just looks right to me. It’s ok, still love the guitar.
I‘m gettin a strong varnish smell as well, but I don’t mind it. It reminds me of the fragrance of the fiddles I used to have. I enjoy the memory of those instruments and this brings back the images.
