CV-1/Traditional
Howdy again. Thanks for the nice words. The CV-1 as compared to the D40 Bluegrass...I have both, as well as a D55. The D40 has the Adi top and is developing into what I think will be my favorite dreadnaught. It gets played a solid 2 hours a day at school and it is opening up beautifully.
I have A/B'd it with my Martin HD28 and there just isn't that much difference between the two. The Martin is a great guitar, and I have a real love for its' sound, but the D40 Guild is a strong voiced dreadnaught as well, and really pumps out the sound. Traditional in every sense of the word. The D55 has a warm strong voice. Different than the D40 because of the Sitka top, and it is just so darned beautiful to look at.
The CV-1 is bright and sings out with a clear strong voice. The bass is just right for this style of guitar. Not as heavy as a dread bass, but very effective. I would say that the CV-1 is more of a fingerstyle instrument, because of its' clarity. HOWEVER, it is a very powerful strumming and lead guitar also. Definately a more "comtemporary" tone quality.
Best wishes...
