So, Sitka, your guitar is not under warranty and you will have to cover the costs yourself? If so, that is truly crappy.
If it were under warranty, then you shouldn't touch it yourself. As to having someone to talk to about the repair, I think it will be almost impossible to find anyone from Guild/Fender, unless you have a special contact in the company. My guitar tech could not get any guidance from the Fender repair shop in Nashville. Locally, you'ld have to find someone very skilled with bolt-on necks and ask him to do exploratory surgery.
By the way, do you like the guitar?
