Current HB-1 Pickups?

Late to the the thread, but maybe someone is still reading. Looked at Gary's detailed writing on the newer HB1s as opposed to vintage HB1s, and while the 90's era Starfire IVs are appealing, his take on the later pickups was not positive, like there is a world of difference between old and new. I don't see the logic in switching out pickups in a vintage Guild. What does one do, look for a 70's era Guild???

First, not all '90s era Starfires have Fender HB1s. From '94 to '98/99 or so they had SD1s.

There's plenty of logic in swapping out pickups if the guitar is amazing but the pickups aren't. Or have them rewound - that's what I did.

I had my SF4 pickups rewound so I could keep the covers.

As for alternatives, I like SD Seth Lovers.
