I was not fortunate enough to have seen the recent ten night run of Elvis Costello in NYC. But looking up videos on line, guild sighting !

early 1980ies with that pickup, right?
"pickguard" I guess...;)
During the 70's they already had black pickguards, so I don't know how to date this one just by visible features. Hans might know better due to the shape of the bridge or something else.

Looking at the headstock overlay in the light it looks warped/old, so could be a maybe a mid 70's one or so. But who knows...

Ralf, I really meant pickup. ;)
Have you seen the round metal thing on the bridge? (On the pic in front of the Steinway.)
It looks like my sister’s 1980 D50. And I assume fishman under saddle pickups got standard pretty soon after that.

Ah! I didn't pay attention, I thought you just might have had a spell checker changing pickguard to pickup...
Honestly I have no idea what this big dot is.

The avilable pickup option in the 70's was the Barcus-Berry Hot-Dots, but they had two little pearl dots on each side of the saddle. So I really don't know what this big dot is and how it could help dating that guitar.
