Color question

Is this color called Black Sparkle, Holoflake, or something else?

It is the rainbow colored flakes

So besides the X-79, X-80 and X-82… what other models were offered with the black sparkle? (I had seen a Fender custom shop strat with that color, so I guess they raided the paint when they had acquired them in the 90’s)

Quite a few different instruments were available in the Black Sparkle. Pretty sure it was pre-Fender from the 80's. (Check out GAD's Catalogs for all the models.)

I have a manual for an 1981 X-82 Black Sparkle, is it a rare color?

I think of this color as "Amp in Case Danelectro" ;]

As far as a rarer color, I would say yes…most of those I have seen are on the X-79. I have never seen another X-80 like mine, with that color. But then again, they made 10 times the number of X-79’s vs X-80’s.

As for black sparkle, I see a lot of x79s in black soarkle and every ad insists that it’s rare. At one point there were five on Reverb and they all said it was a rare color.
