At some point when I was summarizing the history of Starfire basses I implied that the Mickey Mouse PU predated the Bisonic. However, if I understood what I thought I read about the JetStar in Hans' book, the JetStar started out with a Bisonic, switched to a Mickey Mouse and then switched back to a Bisonic.

So did the Starfire bass start out with a Mickey Mouse and then switch to a Bisonic or did it also go Bisonic, Mickey Mouse, Bisonic?

Since both Starfire and JetStar basses have been observed with 1964 serial numbers, which came first? My guess is the JetStar but I'm not sure.

Did they use the same neck or did someone already know which model a neck was destined for when the serial number was assigned?

Thanks.

Hans will know more, but since JetStars, as far as I know, all had different headstocks than Starfires, I bet they knew what they were going to build.

BiSonics were in use by Hagstrom a few years before Guild used them.

You are almost certainly right about the neck. Dumb question on my part. The 2x2 has the wavy headstock and the 1x4 showed up in 1966 and neither looks like the "traditional" 2x2 of the Starfire. Thanks for reminding me I already had the answer if I just thought it through.
