I am looking for an aftermarket case for my D-55. I know Guild makes a nice case but I would prefer something that does not reveal the brand of guitar as I travel/play quite a bit. I purchased the Gator Flight TSA Dreadnought case and was surprised that it did not fit my D-55 so I am looking for an alternative.

TIA for any suggestions - Todd

Most of the dreds I buy w/out case fit into the Sweetwater/GC dred cases they sell

I will buy nothing but a Hiscox from here on out. Yes, they are close to $300, but they are light, strong, and I have a friend that uses them on international flights. A lot, like two or three times a year. At first I missed the plush fuzzy interiors of other cases, but the latches are well designed. Everything is function with these. If your guitar fits a bit loose, they will send you bigger pads. The whole guitar is suspended by pads with about a half inch of air space.I had a black plaslic Martin case that was falling apart after 12 years. A piece of junk. For reference, I have an Epiphone case is good shape after 60. I ploped my D 35 in the stock dread Hiscox. Fit perfectly.

Thank you for the suggestions. Today I tried another dread case that a friend uses and it too was a little small. I think I’ll take the D-55 down to GC and see what they have…

I’ve never heard of Hiscox cases but after a little research and reading they look very well made. Definitely going to check it out.

It was also suggested I consider “Humicase” which I understand makes the current Guild cases.

Humicase would be the obvious choice, but I wasn't going to recommend them since you said you don't want an OEM case. Today's Guilds are made by Cordoba Music Group who ships them (USA-built) in Humicase cases (which are also CMG's product).

They look very nice to me, but I haven't actually got one to look at. I always liked the TKL cases, but again those were OEM cases.

I am looking for a case that does not reveal the guitar brand or say Guild. It looks like the Humicase branded version could be an option…

Thx for the details on CMG. I was unaware of their ownership of Guild and Humicase.

Listen to what Brick said above.

All of my acoustic guitars now live in Hiscox Pro II cases. My former D-55 made several trips to England and back from San Francisco and always arrived safe and sound.

Also, these cases are lightweight, exceptionally strong, and have "D" rings installed so you can hook on a strap and sling it over your shoulder. That leaves both hands free to handle other luggage when you're traveling.

Yep, 6L6 turned me on to the brand. And these are the base model. I can't imagine how strong the flight cases are. I can't imagine needing one.
